We are particularly interested in talented individuals who have a few years’ experience within the bunker trading industry, along with a proven ability to develop business and a strong sales track record. You will act as a trader/broker for the supply of fuel to the Navig8 fleet and third parties through the development and maintenance of long term business relationships with current and potential clients.

As a ship owner and operator, Navig8’s activities span the shipping value chain, with its core expertise being in the oil products/Easy Chemicals sector. It actively trades a time-chartered fleet, owns and invests in tonnage, commercially and technically manages owned/controlled and third-party vessels, acts as exclusive cargo broker for traders, and trades in the freight derivatives market. ​

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone to join a dynamic and experienced global ship operations team, where they will gain exposure to different types of vessels sizes and trade.

Core purpose of the role: To co-ordinate the day to day operational activities of voyage and time chartered tankers.

Responsibilities: Handle all aspects of ship operations which includes: –

  • Ensure compliance with agreed charter-party terms, and relevant international regulations;
  • Oversee agency appointments;
  • Communicate with internal and external counterparts for example Charterers, Brokers, Vessel Masters, Shipping Agents, Port Captains, Surveyors, Vessel Technical Managers;
  • Work with Charters to provide pre-fixture information for example vessel stowage, tank cleaning plans and bunker planning;
  • Handle Letters of Indemnity;
  • Liaise with owners regarding oil major approvals;
  • Operate the vessel throughout their voyages proactively highlighting or solving issues as they arise.
  • Monitor (voyage P+L) throughout the duration of the voyage, which gets reports daily;
  • Handle Tanker Bill of Lading, i.e. issuance and collection of B/L, to obtain LOI from charterer/broker through commercial channels and instruct cargo release order for concerned parties in accordance with Charter Party provisions;
  • Manage the filing of the vessel’s documents, i.e. notice of readiness, cargo operation log & time sheet, ullage report, protest letter etc.;
  • Update the vessel’s itinerary for charterer/broker in accordance with Charter Party provisions;
  • ​Liaise with payments team to issue freight invoices, deviation/Heatup claims along with supporting documents;​

​Skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years shore-based tanker operator experience in either dirty, clean (including easy chems);
  • Sound commercial awareness, knowledge of different charter parties an advantage.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of Operations systems like IMOS an advantage

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Answering Cisco multi-line telephone system for a group of around 25 employees;
  • Assist with office travel and accommodation arrangements at comparative prices and within the company group policy guidelines;
  • Manage and ensure the smooth running of the Reception including meeting and greeting guests;
  • Ensuring the Pantry is kept well stocked and remains tidy including cleaning out the coffee machine;
  • Ensuring the shower and changing rooms are kept tidy;

Objective:

This is an intensive 3 months target driven training programme which has been designed to develop bunker traders in record time. The candidates are given all resources and training needed. In order to successfully complete the training programme you will need to show proactiveness, drive, entrepreneurial qualities and resourcefulness.

 

Bunker Trader Training Programme:

Duration of training programme:

  • 3 months (during probationary period).
  • After completion of program the candidates will be offered a permanent position as a bunker trader.​Phases:Phase 1: First month
  • Bunker Operations: Candidates will be assigned a Senior Bunker Operator to teach them how bunker deliveries work. During this process, the candidate will be assigned several deliveries for them to operate and coordinate while being supervised by the Senior Bunker Operator.
  • Vessel Operations: Candidates will get an introduction to vessel operations and will be expected to be able to display understanding of what vessel operators take into consideration when performing bunker planning and procurement.
  • Market Information and networking: Candidates will be asked to show commercial initiative and develop in depth market knowledge from the start. This includes sales training.​Phase 2: Second monthPortfolio development: Candidates spend phase 2 networking and building their customer portfolio simultaneously to develop their sales skills and market knowledge.​

    Phase 3: Third month

    Trading: Candidates will get the opportunity to refine their approach to sales and commence with assisting their newly created portfolios with bunker procurement alongside a senior trader. All candidates are expected to have successfully started trading before the end of phase 3.

    Main Responsibilities:
